|June North Coast workshops assist with new water quality rules|
Two workshops to assist North Coast dairy producers with new water quality regulations will be held June 12 in Rohnert Park and June 20 and 21 in Ferndale. The workshops are sponsored by the California Dairy Quality Assurance Program and funded in part by grants from the USDA Risk Management Agency and the California Dairy Research Foundation.
The free, “one-stop-shopping” producer-friendly workshops will address the following topics: Completing your map -- Step 2, adding symbols and labels; Water Quality Plan/Waste Management Plan details -- Part 1 (Water Quality Plans are due by November 30, 2012 for all dairies covered under the Waiver of Waste Discharge Requirements; Determining your pond storage capacity; Reducing run-off storage needs.
To receive the most effective assistance during the workshops, producers should bring the following:
