CMAB comments on Court’s rejection of PETA lawsuit |
|
On Friday, August 24, the Sacramento Superior Court ruled against the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) lawsuit challenging the CMAB’s marketing claims about the care provided by California dairy farmers to their cows. The communications used by the CMAB promoted the efforts of California dairy producers like you to care for the health, comfort and welfare of your cows while producing the California milk that we enjoy and that is made into so many products consumers love. In the ruling that denied PETA’s petition, the judge recognized that the CMAB’s communications “convey a message that dairy farmers work fulltime to secure the health and comfort of their cows by providing a nutritious diet, good medical care and healthy living arrangements consistent with the highest animal welfare standards – matters shown to be supported by the direct aggregated experience and knowledge of CDFA personnel and CMAB members.” We are pleased at the recognition the court has given to the hard work you all put in every day to care for your animals.
