Sonoma County requesting disaster designation; North Valley compiling losses
The Sonoma County Agriculture Commissioner is sending a letter to the state
Office of Emergency Services asking for federal disaster aid for losses
experienced during the July heat wave. WUD members are encouraged to keep
records on decreased milk production and death losses. If disaster relief is
provided to Sonoma County, this information will be necessary when applying for
funds.
Northern Sacramento Valley Agriculture Commissioners are still compiling
estimates of total losses. Members in the area are asked to call the
Commissioner to report heat-related losses and give them the information needed
for the county to apply for funds. The information provided will be kept
confidential. It must be provided to the county Commissioner by Monday, August
21. For questions, please contact WUD representative Leslie Dapo at
530-354-4981.
